In addition to a revised navigation and an expanded exhibition archive, the site now has a new feature that allows users to take a closer look at selected works from our exhibitions.

June 16 2007: the gallery Werft 11 shows an interior design exhibition by Eva Schlu, on the occasion of the “day of architecture” in North rhine-Westphalia. On June 16, 2007 you will have the opportunity to engage in direct dialogue with the interior design of the gallery. The furniture specially designed for the gallery by Eva Schlu offers high flexibility through a mobile system. Its presence is almost invisible as it presents the art on display on its modest shapes and reduced materials. The interior designer will grace us with her presence in the gallery on the “day of architecture”. On this 12th annual exhibition organized by the Architect Association of Northrhine-Westphalia, architects will be presenting over 500 actual buildings and objects all over North rhine-Westphalia.

Christian Angl and Ben Plevka are the prize winners of SCREENings “Internet goes Print” photography competition which was held for the second time in 2007. On 23rd/24th March 2007 in the photography salon at the update exhibition in Berlin, the three winners out of almost 800 submissions were chosen. The jury was composed of professionals from the art buying, editorial, photography and fashion sectors.
Christian Angl will be seen for the first time in the Galerie Werft 11 from 20th April to 31st May 2007 with the exhibition (UN)SICHTBAR.

Maike Dahl, who can be seen with the exhibition “Illustre Gesellschaft” at Galerie Werft 11 until March 24th, 2007 receives the Niedersächsischen Staatspreis (Lower Saxony state award) for creative handcrafts 2006/2007. Jury comments: The (...) works display a successful symbiosis of hand-crafted fabrication and modern design. They clearly show that contemporary works are appropriate to carry on the tradition-rich and the extinction-threatened craft of silversmithing into the future.

Four projects of the young European design network dmbh were selected for the book “Screen- und Interfacedesign” (screen and interface design) from the renowned X.media.press series. The publication, introduced in January by Torsten Stapelkamp, will appear at Springer Wissenschaft, Heidelberg.

Nasir Kassamali, the well-known US design expert from Luminaire chose work from Günter Wermekes for the New York Times “T Style Magazine, Design Fall 2006”:
„Günter Wermekes’s ring appeals to Kassamali’s democratic nature.‘‘ I love how he combines diamonds with a humble material like stainless steel,’’ he says. ‘‘It reminds me of Tadao Ando’s architecture, and how he lifts concrete to a whole new level.’’
