Ursula Kaufmann’s home is the world of dance theatre. She is not only interested in the technology of dance; she also wants to understand the interior life of the dancer. Kaufmann usually takes the photographs during dress rehearsals. Assuming the perspective of the audience, she finds a place in the centre of the auditorium and remains there until the end of the performance.
Ursula Kaufmann on her work: “My photographs are neither documents nor independent works of art. I select photos from the many I take that I believe best capture a piece’s meaning.
